Prof. Dr. Din Syamsuddin, as Chairman of Muhammadiyah and President-Moderator of Asian Conference of Religions for Peace (ACRP), has been awarded as Ambassador for Peace by Universal Peace Federation (UPF) on 12 December 2008 in Manila the Philippines. The award was handed by UPF's President, Dr. Sun Myung Moon. UPF is a world Non Governmental Organization, based in Washington, DC, which was holding Global Peace Festival in Manila 12-13 in Manila.

The award was given to Prof. Din Syamsuddin in recognition to his works and roles in promoting peace and harmony between religions and civilizations. In his acceptance speech, Prof. Din Syamsuddin said that award as Ambassador for Peace is an honor but also a responsibility for him to continue the efforts to promote peace both in Indonesia and in the world.
